Fishing the Winnipeg River

The Minaki area has a reputation for world class fishing and wilderness recreation since the “Skipper”, Leonard Holst, opened the first sport fishing camp in 1909.

Today, the Winnipeg River System still boasts a healthy multi-species fishery containing

Trophy Walleye,
Muskie
Northern Pike
Smallmouth Bass.

There are also Crappies, Tullibee, Whitefish, Goldeye, and Sturgeon in these waters. Trout are accessible in nearby lakes not connected to the Winnipeg River.

Many of our guests make the trip several times a year and have been doing so for several decades. In addition, In-Fisherman and several other fishing shows have filmed here over the years.

With plenty of bait and a basic knowledge of fish you can make your dreams come true!
